Simple Tips to Stay Healthy and Eat Right

Trying to find time to stay in shape and get to the gym can often be a real challenge. While no one wants to promote a sedentary lifestyle the fact is our daily responsibilities dictate it in many cases. While activity is important, so are the nutritional choices you make. Below are a few tips to consider:

1. Drink water to keep you feeling full. Drinking the appropriate amount of water can keep you feeling full throughout the day and help you avoid making bad food choices. By staying full you will avoid the urge of eating high calorie snacks.

2. Plan your snacks and think about eating before you get hungry. When you plan your snacks and make healthy choices throughout the day you are not leave it up to chance. Substituting a trip to the vending machine for a portion of carrots or a small handful of nuts can make the decision making process much easier.

3. Breads, pasta and other carbohydrates are everywhere and should be eaten in moderation but not as a substitute for protein. Consider meals that include lean protein such as baked chicken or like. A main food on many diets is beans because they are high in protein and low in fat. Beans can be a great addition to your meals and as a source of protein.

4. Skipping meals can lead to hunger and bad choices. Try to develop an eating schedule and stick to it. Only eat small meals throughout the day incorporating your pre-planned snacks. Small meals and snacks will keep you from feeling hungry and increase the odds of not making a bad food choice.

5. Small snacks are great way to encourage eating smaller meals throughout the day. More small meals helps keep you full and satisfied so you don't feel the urge to eat poorly. Without the feeling of extreme hungry your ability to make great food choices will be improved.

6. Organic foods is all the rage and for good reason. Natural foods are free of the many chemicals added to our normal store bought packaged foods. Many consider additives as a cause of hunger and other health problems. When you are doing your shopping and planning your meals think about what foods might be good to substitute for organics.

Staying in shape is no easy task. It takes time, commitment and a plan that you can stick to. Simple solutions are normally best and this is no different. Small changes, like eating small meals and snack throughout the day keep you from being hungry. Making these small life style changes can help you reach your goals over time.
