The fact of the matter is that a lot of people fail at trying to lose weight and keep it off for good. There's literally an infinite number of ways as to why people fail, but there's one thing that stops the masses. The reason why a lot of people fail at losing some pounds as their New Year's resolution or just getting fit in general is because they aren't keeping things simple.
Think About The Things That You Can Control
When it comes to your daily lifestyle there are tons of different factors that make up the sum. What I mean by this is that you are making a lot of conscious decisions each and every day. You could sleep in until noon but you probably don't decide to because of a job you have to hold down. You could download a bunch of illegal material on the internet but you probably don't because you don't want to go to jail.
Are you seeing where I'm going with this? The thing is that you really do have a lot of freedom if you just work with basic decisions. And this is the foundation of actually losing weight. You can't control whether or not you're going to lose 30 pounds but you can control what you're going to do in order to lose weight.
Keep Fitness Simple - Create A Healthier You
First off, you need to focus on the things that you have control over. We've covered this and if you really understand it and can grasp the basic idea of sticking to the little things then you'll be perfect for the next step. The ultimate concoction as far as successful weight loss is staying in control and aiming for the simple goals.
Just as you don't have control as to how much weight you'll lose, or directly so, choosing to set a weight loss goal for yourself of losing 30 pounds already makes things too complicated. For instance, how exactly will you go about losing 30 pounds? How can you be sure that you'll even lose this much weight?
Instead of creating lofty fitness goals for yourself stick to the finer details. You want to stick to the details that you have control over, are simple, and are action oriented. So instead of wanting to get a rock hard six pack set of abs you should be shooting for doing X amount of crunches every single day. Instead of wanting a perfect beach body start to walk every other day in order to burn off excess calories.
Don't Sit Back Just Do
The main concept here is the fact that you need to be doing healthy things on a regular basis if you want to lose weight and keep it off for good. It doesn't matter how simple or pathetic your goals may be at first. All that matters is that you are doing healthy things.
This could be one less snack a day or eating a little more fruit everyday or walking for 15 minutes every single Thursday night. The more healthy actions you take, the more you pick away at your end goal, and the bigger your actions become.
It's really a simple matter of cause and effect. If you don't that initial simple push or keep your healthy activities consistent then you'll just be stuck at where you currently are.
